Airplane Designs by using MDO tools

Recent development of RyeMDO is an in-house software package for multi-objective, multidisciplinary Reliability-Based Design Optimization (RBDO) and Posibility-Based Design Optimization (PBDO) methods. In a conceptual level of aircraft design, MDO is a methodology for the design of systems with the interaction of different disciplines during the design process. A modular MDO framework is being developed with the ability to handle a variety of optimization objectives as well as problem-specific disciplinary analysis.

Uncertainty is also considered in design optimization in order to increase the reliability of design results. The RBDO and PBDO are proposed to handle the uncertainty in low fidelity analysis tools on aircraft conceptual design.

Development of Flight Simulation Module

NAMAYEH is comparable to the other semi-empirical aircraft design analysis tools (e.g. Digital Datcom, AAA etc) with more modules and more specific features for General Aviation aircraft type to allow designers to optimize their design in the preliminary design phase (Resources>Software Resources>Others). MIMS lab has been developing Flight Simulation Module to complete NAMAYEH program as MDO toolbox.


Cabin Layout Designs

MIMS lab has used Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) for the development of Cabin Interior Design Optimization tool. The objective of this research is to determine optimum cabin layout configurations for commercial aircraft in order to maximize operational efficiency by maximizing ticket revenue without compromising passenger comfort and safety. This research is related to Smart Cabin Interior project.
